chapter three: a how to valentine’s day at home.
If you know me, you know I love all things holidays. I don’t personally consider Valentine’s day a big holiday, but that doesn’t mean I don’t celebrate it. I hate the idea that Valentine’s day is only celebrated if you’re in a relationship., kind of lame in my opinion. I know it’s 2021 and we now call it Galentine’s day when you celebrate it with you girlfriends, personally I find the name very cheesy, but I’ll take it. And if you can’t celebrate with your girlfriends, that’s ok. You can still spoil yourself and celebrate you, give into that Tanya Rad modern woman energy! ( and if you don’t know who Tanya Rad is or what is modern woman energy, we need to have a serious talk)
February 2020 was probably the last time we all got to celebrate Valentine’s day in a normal way. March came and all of our worlds changed. Although this year may look different, that doesn’t mean we can’t make the most of it. If you’re celebrating outside by having dinner or getting a couples massage or traveling somewhere, no judgement here! Life your life and enjoy your day. If you’re still not comfortable going out and you’re celebrating at home, fear not, I got you. I will be sharing four cute date ideas you can totally pull off at home, you might even make this a thing and stop celebrating by going out every year.
I am not really big on giving gifts for valentine’s day, it’s just not that big of a holiday for me. But flowers are always encouraged, cause one they’re pretty and two who doesn’t like receiving flowers? aside from the flowers, I focus more on the experience of it all. I know! such a millennial thing to say.
Allow me to share some of my ideas on how to make this day a really cute one.
I’ve always wanted to take a virtual cooking class, and what better reason to do so than a cute valentine’s day date. There are so many virtual cooking classes out there you can choose from and bring the restaurant experience to the comfort of your own home. Pick a class and cook up something delicious for your honey.. or honeys!
I am obsessed with we’re not really strangers. If you don’t follow them on instagram, stop everything you’re doing and go follow them immediately. You’re welcome. Aside from their insta page, you need to order their card game “ We’re not really strangers”, This game is one of my favorite things in the world, it’s so raw and emotional and just beautiful. It’s a great way to connect deeper with your partner or your friends. I can’t recommend it enough. Order some pizza, or set up a little cheese fondu station, open a bottle of wine or your drink of choice and get ready for one of the best game nights of your life.
A paint and wine night is such a fun idea. You can either book a virtual paint and wine class or just make it your own and paint whatever you want. I would make a cute little charcuterie board to go along with the wine and let your inner painters come out.
I saved the best one for last because this one is my absolute favorite one. I love picnics so much, at the park, at the beach and now at home! This is one of the easiest things to do. There is really no right or wrong way to do this, just throw a blanket on the floor, a few cozy pillows, make a delicious charcuterie board, some wine, flowers, some candles and twinkle lights and put on a romantic movie and have yourself the coziest, comfiest picnic ever.
And there you have it! Four at home date ideas that are so easy and affordable. Put on a cute valentine’s day outfit, do your hair, put on some make up and enjoy a cute date night at home.
Happy Valentine’s day to all the lovers, honeys and modern women out there!
